GAZETTE DELIVERY

How kind!

There are 43 people in Gamlingay who happily do a job for the village 10 times a year. They deliver the Gazette. They do not get paid, the same as everyone else who has anything to do with the magazine arriving promptly on your doorstep each month.

I would like to thank them, because I have just taken over the job of making sure the magazines are distributed regularly, and they are reliable and friendly and I could not do the job without them. Can you help too, please?

The village needs two volunteers.

One round is around Charnocks and St. Mary's. The other is to deliver 11 copies of the magazine to part of Drove Road, from The Vineyard to Cinques Road.

Could you be one of those helpful people? Have you got 45 minutes ten times a year?

I would also like some standby people who could take over when there is a problem, such as illness or a holiday.

Please ring me if you want to be one of those helpful people on 650166.

I look forward to your calls.

Jacky Raeburn

GAMLINGAY WI
by Jane Sandford
Christian Aid

Pat Dyckhoff (President) welcomed members to the March meeting, birthday posies were given to Kath Freeman and Jane Sandford, and the raffle prize was won by Elsie Turner.

Four members would attend the Spring Council meeting in Cambridge.

Lindy Gorton then told members about her and her husband’s recent travels in South Africa. Her keen interest and knowledge of plants and flowers was illustrated by beautiful coloured slides, many of the flowers just grow wild by the roadside.

Already a well known artist of botanical drawings, Lindy always carries a sketch pad and paints with her, and took the opportunity to draw the flowers she saw. We were able to see her finished work in four bound volumes. Lindy had bound these volumes herself and labelled each flower in neat italic script. Typical of Lindy, she had some amusing tales to tell of the holiday and Pat Dyckhoff thanked her for a very enjoyable evening.
