St Neots and District Crime Prevention Panel in partnership with Cambridgeshire Police have started a campaign which will incorporate Car Crime.
The aim of this is to make people aware that vehicles are often stolen and never recovered. Also, items of value left on display have a habit of disappearing. So, anything in view should be kept in the boot or removed from the vehicle.
This campaign has been initiated and will be conducted up to Christmas.
If anyone should see anything untoward they should not hesitate in reporting the incident to the Police on 01480 456111, or if the incident appears threatening, or on-going, then use the Emergency Number 999.
Ask yourself...
- Did you lock the car and switch on the alarml/immobiliser when you left the vehicle?
- Have you left anything in view that might tempt someone to break in and take it?
- Have you used an additional visible security device?
- Are the windows etched with an identification number?
- Have you done everything possible to deter someone from Taking Your Car?
Do You...
- Put shopping in the car and then leave the vehicle unattended?
- Transfer expensive items, (e.g. laptop computers) from the car to the boot when in full view of other people and then leave the vehicle unattended?
You never know who may be watching!
Gamlingay Bowls Club
The club has had a quiet season, basically due to a shortage of players, which has meant withdrawing from the Cambridgeshire Triples League.
This particular league we have won each year from 1995 to 1999, so this was a difficult decision to make.
Also it meant reducing the number of friendly fixtures. However, we did manage to stay in the Meldreth League, finishing in the top three. Fortunately we have now managed to find a few more players, and we have now applied for re-entry into the Triples League. We are also hoping to regain the lost friendly fixtures. The club had a stall at the Gamlingay Village Show with a view to getting people interested in joining us for next season. If you are interested, please contact the Secretary, Derek Paul on 01767 650225.
