The Millennium Book, this village's archive project, is ready for your contributions. The long-life paper and pens are now in the library for your use. You may write or draw, recording your observations about your chosen year or years. The life of your household in this millennium, is the subject; your encounters, special events, jottings, memories, photos or pictures. All can be recorded for posterity. Everyone is invited to contribute, as this is a book about our village. Please return your completed masterpieces, any spare paper and the pen to the Parish Council Office so the next family, group or individual can use them. For further information please see future editions of The Gazette or the Biggleswade Chronicle. If you need further advice before you begin, please call one of the following numbers 650196, 651581 or 650207.
Following my article in the September issue of the Gazette, regarding the arson attack on Gamlingay Guides camp equipment store, I am pleased to report that we have very nearly reached our fund-raising target. We have been quite overwhelmed by the generosity of so many people, many of whom have had little contact with Guiding, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped us. Our bag-packing venture at Sainsbury's brought in the magnificent sum of over £600, whilst our stand at the Village Show raised almost £150. Again, I would like to thank everyone who came and supported us there. Clyde the orang-utan was won by Laura Payne, and his birthday was 15th September, the day of the Village Show. I am also delighted to report that Peter Anderson Cars of St Neots have kindly donated a replacement equipment store, twice the size of our old one! The Parish Council have agreed its new siting and have also given us a generous donation, for which we are extremely grateful. Once again - thank you!!
