hat links a lawnmower, a half dozen traffic cones and a bicycle? No, it is not the makings of an ‘its-a-knockout race’ - these were just some of the items found dumped in Millbridge Brook!

ScoutsA working party from Gamlingay Scouts and Explorers spent a morning clearing litter from the brook, as a way of tidying up part of the village. It was amazing what was found including old chairs, a wheelbarrow, metal girders and wooden posts along with a whole lot of plastic rubbish. In all there was enough junk to fill the back of a van, as you can see in the pictures.

ScoutsThe brook is home to a variety of wildlife, there is even evidence of less common animals like water voles and otters in the area. The section of the brook alongside the Village College is due to be developed into a nature trail, this is expected to happen later on this year. In the meantime the Scouts have done their bit to help tidy up now so that both the animals and human visitors to the site can benefit from a cleaner environment throughout the summer. Scouts
