A

proposal has been made to commemorate the Queen's Golden Jubilee with a permanent feature that will be remembered in years to come. With this in mind the walk shown on the attached plan, which will go right round the village, has been suggested. The route will be sign-posted by way markers with a suitable inscription, and there are plans to place benches in various places so that the weary may rest their feet. The walk is approximately 3 miles long and should take about 1½ hours. A brief description of the walk is :- (Starting at the phone box by the Church) Go down Church End to Long Road and turn left on to the first track. Turn left again at the track junction (the right turn is a permissive path to Gamlingay Wood and CAN be used for pedestrian access to the wood) - keep on to Waresley Road, cross the pit to Cinques Road and continue to Gamlingay Cinques. At the Cinques turn left just before the telephone booth, passing between the two houses turn right and immediately left again (joining the Clopton Way), continue down this track. passing a track on your right, to the path T junction, turn left on to Park Lane, following this down to Everton Road. Turn left towards the village and then right on to Little Heath, bearing left at the junction into West Road and continue on to Mill Street. Bear right and take the short cut to Stocks Lane; go left again and then right to enter the Community Centre playing field. Keeping to the right of the field, go down to the back of the Tennis Courts - here a path leads over the brook on to the new recreation area - turn left along the brook to Station Road, cross the road taking the path that leads to St Mary's, cross into the Church Yard by the Kissing Gate and return to the start. Dog owners are reminded to keep their animals under control and clean up behind them, using the bins provided for this purpose.
