Thank you to everyone in the village who made Christian Aid a success this year - all who gave their time to collect, who supported the coffee morning and who gave what they could in their envelopes.

We raised over £1,800

Well done

GAMLINGAY VILLAGE SHOW Saturday, 9th September 2000 at 2pm

by Jan Cooper

Preparations for the eighth annual Village Show are well under way and you should find enclosed within this Gazette, your copy of the schedule, times and rules of entry, together with entry forms for the competition classes.

If you’ve entered in previous years, then take another look as we’ve put in some new classes and, if you’ve never entered before, then why not celebrate the new Millennium and have a go! Each entry will still only cost you 20p!

It would help us with administration if entry forms could be left at Gostlings or the College before the 8th September. Fees and entries can be brought to the College between 9am and 11 am onVillage Show Day. Please note the new times. This change has proved necessary as extra time is needed to write out all the certificates before the show starts! Entry to the Village Show remains at £1.50 for adults and 50p for concessions. Outside you will be able to inspect over one hundred Classic Cars and Motor-cycles, listen to a superb Jazz Band, fill up on a Hog Roast and ice-creams, watch Football and Netball Tournaments, buy at the Car Boot Sale, ride on the Fairground, try your hand at various side-shows, and visit stalls and displays by local clubs and societies.

There will also be children’s races together with other arena events still to be finalised. Weather permitting, we will also have a fly-past by a Spitfire.

Inside there will be all the competition entries, (which just seem to get better and better every year), Railway Memorabilia and Model Railway Exhibition and not forgetting the W.I Tea room for that well-earned rest!

Car Boot Pitches remain at £7, to be paid for on the day. Please note : NO TRADERS. Boots can be set up from 1pm.

We again appeal for offers of financial support, however small, from local businesses to offset our expenses so all the money we raise can be put to use in the community. We are very grateful to those companies who sponsored the Village Show last year and we hope you may be able to help in 2000.We are looking for someone in particular to sponsor the rosettes. Swannell Brothers have very kindly paid for these in the past but we are now seeking a new name to display on the ribbons!

Please contact us if your feel able to make this specific contribution.

If your organisation would like to be considered as a recipient of Village Show proceeds, please contact the committee via Vic Cook, The Bungalow, G.V.C. by Village Show day. Finally, a big plea for HELP - before, during or after the show - would be gratefully received by the committee of six people, who organise this annual event.
